Cable tv outlet question. Cable v. Broadband

I had 3 drops put into the house. Two in the main rooms and one in the bedroom. I have had the computer set up at what I will call outlet A. The tv is on outlet B.

I want to rearrange things and switch outlets to put tv on A and computer across the room on B, where the tv was. Should this be an issue?

The person at my cable company said the other which has only been serving television may not send broadband to the modem and I may need a service call...35 bucks. If that is the case I will just get some extra coax cable and extend the cables. That will sort of suck but it would be a quick fix, I guess.

Has anybody done this and did you have any problems? He said there is a chance it will take with no problems. What are my odds ahead of time?

l00p...I can't imagine why you would have a problem, assuming when you had the drops installed they were all run to the main cable box. Is this Time Warner we are talking about? They only have one drop coming in to your home...doing all of the work...so it shouldn't be an issue.

Of course, if it is a problem, why are you going to spend $30.00 on cable extensions to save $35.00 on a service call?

Actually, for some reason I have an assortment of coax cable, splitters and stuff laying around in the back/junk room. I hate the whole make an appointment on the day of their convenience process, to be honest. I am with Grande and know they are not hosing me but still.

I am also thinking I should not have a problem but we'll see. I also have some of those clips to run cable for some reason. My gathering may finally come in handy. Now to just find it all.

Monday is knock down some walls day.

I've moved cable modems and boxes all over my friggin' house and never had any problem, sounds to me like the guy's full of ****. The signal goes to your house (and every drop) anyway, it's just a matter of whether there's something on the other end (cable box, modem, etc) to decode the signal. It's conceivable that if a drop is far enough away you might need a signal booster, but if they're in the same room that seems unlikely. I'd definitely test it out first...

Out of curiosity, why are you bashing down walls (I assume it's something outside of this)?

I have a bedroom closet in the back room that is sort of useless. It is more narrow and deep than wide. By taking down the two walls it will expand my bathroom about 100 percent. I can easily put a closet elsewhere in the room and make it more practical. Neither wall is a support or load bearing wall.

For what its worth, only thing I have ever heard and followed was first split off needs to go to the modem. All others can then go to the TV's.
Years ago when I had some modem probs I was told my connection was too far down the line of splits. Ran from first split to modem, then split off TV lines off next line, etc. No probs since.
