Buying Camcorder online?

I've never bought an electronic online. Matter of fact, I don't know that I would have ever considered it before. But, I'm looking at buying a SONY camcorder. There are a buttload of online companies that I have never heard of that have it for $250 less than best buy or ciircuit city. Anyone ever done this or know anyone that has. All the reviews seem positive. They even ship it for free. There has to be a catch.

I did it last week on a Sony Camcorder- SON DCRHC30. It is 569.99 at Circuit City. I got mine from mpsuperstore.com for 468.95. I've also bought a digital camera from them a few years back with no problems. You need to make sure that they have the manufacturer's warranty and are not "gray market" items. Most of the New York places try like hell to get you to buy accessories from them. Just tell them no.

I've bought a lot of electronics from One Call. --The Link The DCRHC30 is $539 including shipping. They'll press you to buy more stuff (it's what they do), but just tell them 'no thanks' if you're not interested. You've got to be pretty careful buying electronics online. The biggest issue is gray market products. I trust the guys at one call, though.

go and buy them from local store fist and see how you like it. You can return it and then get the one online. You can possibly even barter with the local store to lower the price.

my dad has 'test drove' 4 cameras and still is looking around by going to wolf camera and doing this.

But if you know what you want and can match the model # exactly online, then go for it.

We bought a new sony from B&H Photo or something like that when my son was born a year ago. Saved almost $200, and never had any problems. We also bought a Home theatre in a box about five years ago from etronics, and again, never had a problem. Do check the ratings of the sellers before you buy.

I've purchased several electonics from them, first by calalog, but recently by their website (including my camcorder). They are always cheaper than Best Buy, and they are out of state, which means no sales tax. Free shipping, too! Good Luck.
