Buying a gas grill...

I'm looking to buy a natural gas grill. The only constraints are a 5' wide area to put it and I'm looking at spending less than $600. I've looked at some of the weber grills, but damn they're pricey. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Visit Barbeques Galore (if there is one near you). I have seen some fantastic grills on sale because they're the "2004 model"

It's not like buying a car - why not save 50%??

I have the Weber Silver Genesis A w/ 2 burners (they make a B- w/ 3 burners as well). Great grill. A little pricey compared to some of the cheaper lines-- but Weber is rock solid, and you can expect it to last a long time if you take care of it.

BTW- if you look at Weber- just make sure that you check what the grates are made out of. When I bought mine a couple of years ago at Home Depot-- it came w/ cast iron grates (vs. porcelain enameled steel- which is what everyone else in the world but HD sold.) Needless to say, the cst iron rusted like a mofo-- even after pre-treatment per their instructions. Fought w/ Weber on the phone until they sent me replacements. Still don't understand why everyone sold the grill w/ the better grates-- except for HD- but it definitely makes a difference. Good luck.

I would stick with Weber.. they are top quality grills. I had some bad experiences with some of the cheaper ones like CharBroil

Sams has a awesome looking stainless steel grill in that price range. Not sure if it take natural gas though.

I have a broilmaster Nat. gas grill. Love it. Im pretty sure you can buy any propane grill you like and convert it to nat gas.

I went through this process last year and ended up with a Weber Silver B. I certainly don't regret it. Consider the fact that you WILL be replacing parts on your grill as time goes on . . . do you want to drive to the nearest Home Depot or do you want to try and order parts from a manufacturer that may or may not even be in business any more?

I disagree about avoiding cast iron grates, though. Cast iron is where it's at -- the stamped stainless steel grates weigh maybe half as much and don't hold heat nearly as well. What's the big deal with spending $50 every couple of years on new grates?

The cast iron grates are a serious upgrade on the Weber grills. Great for retaining heat and those ever important grill marks. However, maintenance is a pain. If you don't want to do that then Weber has enamel coated cast iron that have the same heat retention/grill mark benefits but not nearly as much maintenance. I'd get a Weber. I've had my Genesis Silver B for about 4 years now and have had absolutely zero problems.
