buying a bbq?

So I've got a grill, and I'm now looking to step it up and buy a bbq but I'm not sure where/what I should be getting. It'll be my first time buying/using a bbq, so I'm not sure exactly what I should be looking for, what really matters.

Caveat - I live in NY (got a big backyard in brooklyn), so delivery is a must, unless ya'll know of a place in the tri-state area that I can get it from.

Any input on where to buy (online), and what factors I should consider? I figured this was a more appropriate board than the depot...moderators, please feel free to move if I'm wrong.

Do you have a brisket supplier lined up? do they have whole briskets?

Is there a Wal-Mart supercenter anywhere near? That is if you want to go the inexpensive route i.e. < $250. Wal-mart supercenters here in Florida (in Orlando and SoFla) carry cryovac whole briskets and smokers and other necessities.

I got a basic sidebox at the home depot in brooklyn. required assembly. which requred lots of concentration.

an nyc cookoff this spring?

We are very happy with our Big Green Egg as a smoker. Alms Plumbing and Heating in Brooklyn is listed as a dealer on the Egg website, you could look it up. They are a bit pricey.
