I don't understand why so many people are picking Butler to potentially get back to the Sweet 16. They're a good team and all, sure, but are they really capable of winning essentially two road games in Birmingham? USA is DAMN good and is going to be playing in their backyard, and even if they get past that, Tenn will bring a shitload of fans to Birmingham as well.

I know they're really good, I just wonder if they're capable of winning essentially 2 road games against good teams in essentially 3 days.

Thoughts?

What I don't understand is why Butler is a #7 seed in the first place when they're ranked #10 nationally. Drake at a 5 seed is also too low.

Also don't understand why the committee would reward two #10 seeds by placing them close to home. S. Alabama gets to play in Birmingham and Davidson gets to play in Raleigh.

I think Butler is too high of a seed too. They went to the Sweet 16 last year, I think, and have all 5 starters back. They are a Princeton type team. They don't have great athletes, but play very smart and won't usually let the scores get out of the 60's. Tenn will be a big problem for them, but I heard one commentator say that Butler just drilled them in the regular season last year.

I know next to nothing about Butler, but how is a team that is ranked 10th in one poll and 11th in another seeded too high at 7?

Third, I don't know if I said it right, but I think they should have been at least a 4 seed. Their conf. not too good though. I was just going by what they did last year and having all 5 starters back plus being 29-3.

Ah, I got you skyranger. Low is good, high not so good.

or is it high is good, low not so good?

Butler has 6 losses, 3 of which are to UCLA, UNC, and DUKE. They need to be seeded higher, and they got screwed having to play Tennessee in the round of 32. They will destroy USA.

I don't understand how Butler a team that was as high as 8 at one point in the season but stayed at 11-12 all year is a 7 seed? That makes zero since to me. What are top 25 rankings for. As for their tournament hopes...

Butler over Tennessee? Thats a tough call because I follow the Horizon League VERY closely believe it or not and Butler is a sketchy team. Their strategy on offense is literally to work you to death by passing the ball around a thousand a one times before the shot clock expires and then shoot a three. They will take it to the basket occasionally if they see an opportunity but they are VERY perimeter oriented. They are also very suspect on defense because of their lack of athleticism. Tennessee on the other hand is very athletic and can and will push the ball on butler. They will where them down physically inside and they have the athletes to get out and guard Butlers players man to man. I watched a lot of Butler basketball this year and for some reason teams would try to play match up zone with them, keying in on Graves. Tennessee should man them up and I am predicting a blow out in that game if it were to happen. So actually it is not a tough call
