Plano West took a 28-7 lead, then Cedar Hill came storming back, surging ahead at 35-28. Cedar Hill tried to run out the clock, but was forced to punt in the final couple of minutes --- and had the punt blocked! Plano West took the ball in for the touchdown to tie the game at 35-35 with a little over a minute left.
After the ensuing kickoff, Cedar Hill threw an interception to give Plano West excellent field position, but the field goal kicker missed a 29 yard attempt to end the game.
Plano West scored first in overtime. Cedar Hill was called for two holding penalties, and ended up with 4th and 24 from the 39 yard line...and then threw a touchdown pass to retie the game!
Cedar Hill then mounts a steady drive to score on their next possession, just to watch Plano West match it on their first play.
Plano West then fails to score in their next possession. Cedar Hill kicks about a 24 yard field goal to win the game.
Amazing game between two very talented teams. I can't believe Burnt Orange Beat covered this game as a live blog. I bet if they cover another 100 high school games with live blogs they don't get a better one than this one.
