I spent about three months working in Minneapolis and ate many a Jucy Lucy at Matt's Bar. They make the best restaurant hamburger I've ever had in my entire life, with no offense intended to Casino.
Fortunately for me, the first time I went I was accompanied by a seasoned local, who warned me to wait several minutes before biting into it. At a nearby table, I watched a solo tourist bite into one immediately, and witnessed his screams of anguish as a fountain of molten cheese bathed the inside of his mouth. Poor bastage.
Anyway, the Jucy Lucy at Matt's is simply unbelievable.
$4.95 will get you a Lucy on a plain bun, two pickles, and a **** pile of grilled onions. Wash it down with some Grain Belt Premium and you've had yourself one hell of a meal.
Ahhhh, you live in the Twin Cities? I am quite jealous of your ability to go and eat a Jucy Lucy at will. I'm not kidding when I say that's the best restaurant hamburger I've ever eaten in my life.. I think it must have something to do with the decades-worth of grease on the grill (and hanging in the air) at Matt's!
