The Link
Bugs and I were contemporaries of the same age and I sometimes moved in "parallel circles" with him through the years.
Many mutual acquaintances and some fellow band mates, although I never met him and only saw him play once.
Another guitar player from Tyler, whom I gigged with for four years, told me all about Robin Hood Studio and Mouse & The Traps.
In the late '70s Bugs backed up Ray Wylie Hubbard at a dance hall at Lake Buchanan and I saw the show.
Bugs was really good and at least that night he played barefoot.
I remember playing bass myself at The Cellar in Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston, seeing Bugs' name on the advertising posters and hearing about his guitar chops and playing prowess.
RIP.
