Bugged by flies

What's with all these flies all of a sudden? I think they are called "deer flies." One day at home there were none, and the next day 10 in the house-I had to go on fly swatting patrol. Then a couple of days later, they were in my place of business, in the windows, five or six in each window.
And they are stupid-they just let you swat them. They are the aggy of flies.
Where are they coming from? I'm not carrying around a dead possum in my back pocket or anything.

Here in El Paso, they are everywhere. Skeeters and houseflys. It happens here every year once the rains hit. We are about 3 or 4 inches above normal so far.
