COLLEGE STATION - Former Texas A&M quarterback and Houston Oilers player John "Bucky" Richardson has been arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Brazos County records show he was arrested by College Station Police and booked into jail just after 9 a.m. Sunday.

According to a police report, Richardson was seen swerving on University Drive, not maintaining a single lane. The arresting officer says Richardson failed a number of elements and admitted he'd had three beers at a local restaurant that night before driving.

Richardson played for the Aggies the early 1990's - going on to play for the Houston Oilers, Dallas Cowboys, and Kansas City Chiefs. County records show he has bonded out of jail.

For an aggy, I always liked Bucky as a player. He always played hard and smart. Sorry to hear of his troubles.

I think Bucky was the aggy QB who said that he didn't hold any hate in his heart for The University of Texas -- he just wanted to win the ballgames.

I always liked him. I hope he learns that this is actually the best thing that has ever happened to him. If he takes the lesson well, he will NEVER be the one who puts someone else in a body bag.

Hope he learns his lesson too and makes the right choice going forward. But I'll never read a cop's report on a DWI and believe a word of it until the real evidence comes out. They often exaggerate the hell out of the details. Checking off every box they got on the form whether it applies to that person or not to protect their arrest decision.

Drunk drivers are a very bad thing, but some cops who enforce them can be quite abusive and free-flowing with the decision to just arrest most everyone and let the court sort it out. No repercussions whatsoever when proven wrong and dismissed. But the defendant went through a bunch of bs (fines, fees, classes, breathing ignition, etc) until he got to court to prove his innocence. Bad system on both sides.

Oh yeah, and quit drinking and driving Aggy!!!

After a solid career in college and decent in the NFL, why is he hanging around college station? Seems like he should have better places to get arrested.
