BSG: Spoilers

SPOILER ALERT!

Holy crap that was a good episode! It was fairly intense when Adama was freaking out. And I didn't quite expect the resolution. Once it came clear and the episode wasn't over, I figured on some kind of twist- while not wholly unexpected, I think they've chosen a good direction for this.

Really unhappy with the fact I have to wait until next year to finish this out.

No **** and again they mindfucked us with moving real fast. Remember when one episode later it said, New Caprica 1 Year Later. They moved fast on getting to what may or may not be Earth.

So, are they our future or our past? Are they going to find an island that is unscathed or in better shape..aka, Atlantis and wait for the Earth to heal to branch out? Then, well, sink? Or are they post nuclear war earth as we know it now?

Yay, we get to wait months!

Fantastic episode.

Oh, and if I am not mistaken, Gaius Baltar just saved humanity. What a tremendous actor, so many of them.

I think with the fact that things are cyclical in this show, Earth is prior to now. It's going to lay fallow for a while, then we reestablish, then we wreck it again.

I felt like Lee's statement of "This is how it has been, but it's not how it has to be" has a broader significance.

Yeah, esp. since he was not present when the older Cylon hybrid type thing kept saying that to the girl from Razor. It said it too to the young to be Admiral Adama as well when he was on that mission.

I wanted to think it was NYC but there was not enough solid evidence to support that. I mean, it could have been the Brooklyn Bridge by the supports but how unique is that given there is a galaxy out there now.

A friend today, who has been watching the original series from the 80s brought up something interesting. We know they borrow quite a bit from the original series and update it. The narrator in the original series talked about our forefathers and how life in the galaxy was perhaps our ancestors. BSG then was way in our past. Could have impact on what is going on.

Hmmm. So maybe the 13th tribe did come to Earth and inhabit it. They were Atlantis. Now we have destroyed ourselves and now BSG comes in.

The Cylon war will continue though. Or will it end now that the one specific 1 is dead with no resurrection ship nearby and no hub at all.

Are there other versions of the last five running amuck in the galaxy somewhere? Did they destroy Earth? Damnit. How many months? I detest countdowns going on during football season.

I didn't see anyone else mention it and I'm way new to BSG since I only started watching this season but what about the 5th Cylon?

On all the other threads, everyone was talking about who the 5th Cylon was and then the Cylon (Deanna?) comes on board and tells them that only 4 of the Original 5 are in the fleet and then the 5th is not mentioned again. Did I miss something or are we now missing a Cylon?

Help a newbie out...

I take it she meant it literally in the fleet at that moment. There were still people on the Base Star, right? So it may be one of them over there, just not on Galactica at that moment.

Laura has been doped up and the Cylon blood helped her once. You could pitch a case for just about anybody other than an Adama.

One of the theories I saw on another board is that the 5th Cylon is on Earth. He/she was the one that led Starbuck to Earth so she could bring the others back.

Another interesting theory out there is that the final 5 were actually on Earth before the destruction. The 4 left when it was apparent the humans on Earth were doomed. They were supposed to help bring the remnants of the 12 colonies to Earth while the 5th remained behind to prepare Earth for the new settlers.

The final thought: the Cylons saw what humans did to themselves on Earth and felt that humanity would repeat it on the 12 colonies so they destroyed the colonies. Perhaps the union of Cylon and human is their solution to humanity's weakness.

I still think the 5th Cylon is Roslin.

I also think that they are visiting Earth in "our" future after a nuclear war/nuclear winter. They picked up the dirt and pointed a Geigger (sp?) Counter at it, and it started clicking like it was radioactive.

I will probably be wrong though.

It could be radioactive after a meteor too, right? Just saying. I doubt it was a big asteroid. More likely some bomb.

And to the newbie, I suggest going back and renting the other seasons in order. I think you will enjoy the upcoming finale even more.

A meteor is a good guess as well.

I think the most intriguing explanation was that the cylons destroyed Earth.

Why? How did they find it? Are they waiting for the fleet to get there so they can fight it out with them?

I second the suggestion of buying/renting the seasons in order. That's how I discovered the show, and it took me all the way until right before this season started to catch up.

It was great...

Is there only a finale left? Or is there one last season? I thought that I was watching the last season and I haven't done my usual research so I keep watching each episode expecting it to be the last so I jumped on here to see if that was it only to find out that there's going to be a GAP before the next episode.

Damn it.

I've had that plan to go and get all the old episodes but I have so much on my plate - including three boxes of comics to read including the last 30 issues of Lucifer and a LONG stretch of Hellblazer from about issue #180. Just bought 245 yesterday... Catching up to BSG is definitely on the list though.

My damned job is geting far too much of my waking life.

I say put the other things on the shelf for now since they will still be there and are not currently fresh or new. BSG is since you have more coming...NEXT YEAR. This gives you time to watch the mini-series and then the first season, then the second and so on.

You will be glad you did as many holes will be filled and things will fit in nicely on the story line. I think you will have to take a deep breath after watching the first episode in the first season, titled, "33". Concensus here is that it is magnificent.

But make sure to watch the mini-series or pilot that is two or three hours long that precedes the first season. It comes in the box set or rental.

I think the reason Three didn't ask for the final cylon was either because they were already aboard the basestar (Roslin or Baltar), already dead (Elosha, Ellen Tigh or Admiral Cain), or somebody who she didn't want to alert the suspicion of, and definitely couldn't leave.

I think it's the third, so my best guesses would be:
- Admiral Adama. It would explain why Three wanted Adama to go with her back to Galactica.
- Natalie, the locked-up six. Three couldn't order her release without making it suspicious, and she couldn't leave without being released. It would also explain why she was apologizing so profusely to the final cylon -- not suspecting it would be a unique version of one of the known models.
- Starbuck's Viper, be strange and unexpected, at least.

The writers have thrown out so many red herrings this season that I honestly lost track of how many different people have each “come on strong” as a possible 5th cylon.

At various times this season; Baltar, Roslin, Gaeta, and Starbuck have all been dropped as hints that any of them could be the fifth cylon.

From the beginning of the show, they have laid the groundwork that two cylons cant reproduce, they need a human. Now it gets interesting with the revelation that Caprica is pregnant (or whichever the 6 on Gallactica is).

This opens the door to the writers having thrown out the “2 cylons cant reporoduce” rule. And since Tigh spent a lot of time with her "without guards" in the room, he could be the father. But that also doesnt mean one of the guards didnt pull an Abu Ghraib and lay the pipe to her.

Now, if the ******* writers actually blast this established rule out an airlock, it opens a massive can of worms of who the final cylon actually is.

At that point, Cally becomes a strong possibility along with Helo. Yes, Cally is dead, but she was tossed out of the airlock before the ressurection ships were destroyed- so if shes the 5th, she would have resurrected. Which means she could be anywhere.

Personally I think that would be a major ******** move by the writers after establishing the "cylons cant reproduce" rule.

There was also another comment by Deanna that I thought was very significant- when she said that the “4” hidden cylons were *IN* the fleet. But of course, that doesn’t include any of the main stars on the Basestar with Deanna.

If taken at face value that eliminates the 5th as being one of the characters not on the basestar- which means:
Starbuck
Lee Adama
Lt Gaeta (who I personally thought was a strong possibility)
Dualla
Dr Cottle

Are all no longer suspects.

I have a theory that only people who see "other" people in their heads were Cylons (the 6 sees Baltar, Tigh sees his wife, and finally Baltar sees the 6). Combine that with the way they have implied that Baltar is the messiah, it basically guarantees hes the final one.

But these ******* writers have been throwing us red herrings all season, and I just ******* knew they wouldnt let us know who the fifth was before the final season- although I had some hope, because in the original mini-series we found out literally in the last second of the mini-series that Boomer was a cylon. I was wishing they were going to do the same this last episode....
