Bruce Robison's 'What Would Willie Do'

Heard this on the radio yesterday from Bruce Robison's 2001 album Country Sunshine.

Funny, lighthearted song. I'm suprised it hasn't been played more.

Mickey from Willie's band plays harmonica on that song. Also, Bruce played it at Willie's Tsunami benefit several years ago and Mickey came out on stage and played with him.

Some guy named Gary Allen also recorded it but I don't know who he is or if it ever got any radio attention. Really not a radio-friendly song.

KGSR and 98.1/KVET played WWWD by Gary Allen and Bruce a bunch when it first came out. I still hear it once in a while.

I saw Bruce playing one night with Monte Warden many moons ago. Bruce said "This next song is a new one called "My Brother and Me". Monte said, "What's it about?"

WWWD is a great song. Bruce is such a good songwriter. I first saw him back in 1995/96 at Saxon Pub. There were less than 10 people in the entire place. I had no idea who he was at the time, but I thought he was great. Been a fan ever since.

Yeah-the song came out in 04. The divorce proceedings took a year and a half. I guess the other two and a half years were peaches and cream.

Bruce's new album, New World, has probably his best song he has written, called California 85. It is more upbeat that any song he has ever recorded, but it has a great story to it. The album also has the saddest song he has ever done, called Larosse.

The new album isn't my favorite overall, but still has some really solid songs, including rereleasing "She Don't Care" that was on the original Boar's Nest version of Wrapped.

I really hope Bruce continues to land songs with George Strait. He has had number 1 songs with George, Dixie Chicks, and Tim McGraw, plus having a song on that monster album that Leeann Womack had in addition to the stuff that Kelly records. That stupid okie also recorded one of Bruce's songs.

Stupid okie = Garth Brooks. The song is "She Don't Care". He put that song on some album that only sold in Wal-mart. Also, apparently some guy named Ty England recorded the song as well.
