Brown = Ward

Our offense in the second half of the AZ game reminded me of the 2009 Duke game. We seemed to just go to one-man dribble/drive offense that reminded me of Varez Ward against Duke. Both games ended in missed shots at the buzzer. Both games frustrated me bc we did not get any good looks based on set plays out of our offense. I know I am beating a dead horse....but an offensive genius Barnes is not.

Arizona obviously could not guard Brown, I would have done the same thing as a coach until they adjusted to stop it. Would you have rather a set play for Johnson or Thompson and watch them miss their free throws? Conneticut seems to do pretty good with Walker playing that way.

The problem is that Brown jogged the ball slowly up the court and didn't leave himself enough time to make an actual move or do any fakes. Going in one direction and trying to shoot over two defenders is about the only thing he could have done.

Brown played a terrific game, and we most certainly gave the game away before the final 8 seconds. However, if JB would have advanced the ball up the court a little faster, we may have had a chance for an offensive rebound and put back. But that's really nit picking considering the bone-headed plays that lead up to that situation.

Varez Ward played very well against Duke two years ago. If he didn't screw up his following season during warmups, he would have been an integral part of this team in 2011. Probably off the bench just as much as Brown, if not more.

I am just comparing Brown and Ward in those two games. I am not comparing the players beyond that. Go back and watch the tape.
