just heard from a friend in LA that Brittney Murphey died of a heart attack. Most likely drugs since she was 32.

TMZ is announcing it, so it seems more than just a rumor. Judging by the picture they have of her, I wonder if it had anything to do with what she put her body through to lose weight.

She always reminded me of that sultry, slutty-hot, yet mildly troubled gf, who had the potential of showing up on your doorstep with dark circles under her eyes, brandishing a pair of scissors while incoherently babbling about you and an ex-lover.

My favorite role of hers and the one I always think of when her name is mentioned is the one from Clueless. I picture her doing the, "Rolling with my homies" thing.

I'd never heard of her. Just read her obit. She was the voice of Luanne Platter. Wow.

EDIT: saying that I'd never heard of her was not intended as an insult to her or her memory. I understand her breakout role was in "8 mile" and I simply never saw the film.

Actually her breakout role was in Clueless in 1995. And she was in many mainstream movies from that point on.

Dead at 32 ... my educated guess is that she was a smoker who was taking birth control pills and threw a clot. Of course, I could be wrong.

However ...

Guys, if your wife/girlfriend/lover is a smoker who takes estrogen-progesterone, whether for conception control or hormone replacement therapy, please convince her to stop. Smoking is the #1 contraindication to taking these hormones.

My guess is she pulled a Karen Carpenter. I was just reading in a fan mag and she was complaining about the media speculating she had an eating disorder. Her quote: "I eat all the time, I must have a hollow leg or something!" She looked absolutely emaciated, almost like a Holocaust survivor.

Does she think that no one saw 'Clueless', and the whole point of her role was that she was chubby and needed (according to the movie) a makeover? No you don't have a hollow leg, you just quit eating, probably among other things.

I am so tired of these stick-thin actresses acting like they have always been a size 0. Courtney Cox, I saw you in the Springsteen video and you weren't a 0. Jennifer Anniston, I saw you in some slasher pre-nose job movie and you were a bit on the husky side.

Please, if anorexia is the ultimate reason, publish this. Sadly, I don't think she was a big enough 'name' to make too much of a difference, and unfortunately it may take someone really famous dying due to an eating disorder to make women rid themselves of this distorted body image. Very sad.

I agree that anorexia is a big possibility, and these poor girls often take all kinds of drugs to speed up their metabolism and keep them from getting hungry. So sad.
