I was thinking while watching that freshman, was Brian the lefty who set the Texas record for batting average, something like .423, and a then record number of hits- 122?

Don't know if you mean season or career...he held the career record until Dustin Majewski broke it.

I was thinking season record for batting average and possibly career numbers for hits? Or do I have it backwards, it's been a while.

I know Cisarik hit over .400 once here. He batted .389 for his career, topping Keith Moreland's .388 career mark at the time. Kid had a great eye at the plate.

Here's the list:
Sad to remember that we had our 2nd and 4th best all time hitters in the lineup in 88 and didn't go to Omaha because of a bad luck loss to Cal in the regionals.
Highest batting avg. (minimum 250 AB)
1. .395 - Majewski, Dustin (192-486) - 2002-03
2. .389 - Cisarik, Brian (200-514) - 1984-88
3. .388 - Moreland, Keith (274-706) - 1973-75
4. .367 - Patrick, Mike (173-472) - 1987-88

10. .353 - Bryant, Scott (188-532) - 1987-89

okay, so am I dreaming the whole 122 hits in a season thing? it kind of sounds like a whole bunch, but that number sticks in my mind.

well here it is: I guess I was either dreaming or these records don't count postseason play?
