Brewer verbals to Tech

Figured the logjam at QB would be a problem, but a bummer anyway. Remember his dad at my HS & at the forty acres. This is one, I'd have liked to have seen go out of state/conference.DMN

Damn the scholarship limits.

LT with a pipeline to Tech now - what with Ryan Erxleben there.

I'm pretty sure Robert is an Assistant AD at UT now.

I wish him well, I really do, but I hope that our passing on him doesn't turn out to be an epic failure. I have a bad feeling though.

It's not a zero sum game. He could be great and we could still be fine. We've got good qbs on campus or on the way.

Again, I wish him well at Tech.

You never know, but I believe there's a very real possibility that whatever QB we get a LOI on next year will be sitting behind Gilbert and Wood for quite a while. No disrespect to Chase McCoy, but Wood could be special.

Good luck to Mr. Brewer. And thanks to your Dad and Grandpa for their tremendous contributions to UT Football.

Hook'em!!!

I HATE the scholarship limits, but that being said, here's hoping Brewer has a fine career at Tech. He's a very good quarterback, and Tech's gonna be better for getting him.

Well, you may not have meant any disrespect, but you showed a lot by getting his name wrong.

It is Case McCoy not Chase. And, I suspect you will know it very well in a few years. Have we not learned the metal of the McCoy clan yet? Did you also dismiss Colt when he arrived?

I continue to be amazed at those who think Connor Wood has it on Case. Is it physical measurements, Rivals ranking? It certainly is not his high school performance. Not saying he won't be the star, but why the anointment over Case? Why? Please tell me, as I really want to understand this.

If I had a penny for every player I had a bad feeling when we missed on them. I could've filled the Rose Bowl seats with'em and skiied on Lincolns beard while I watched us play for the mnc....

You can't help but wish him the best at Texas Tech (except when it adversely affects UT of course) with what his father and grandfather have done for us even though I was hoping he would go to Rice. One can't blame him for not coming here even though I hate to lose him.

Yes, not a complete surprise, but I too remember Robert Brewer as UT qb, and hate to see his son go elsewhere. But I wish him the best at Tech, and recommend we start running spring drills to defense the qb draw when we play the Raiders.

as most of you know, robert's grandfather played qb and won state at lubbock high school back in the day. also has a couple of uncles who went to tt--so he had some ties to the school and area.

it'll be an interesting qb race between he, scotty young and jacob karam.

Are we being serious?

Its not logical to even be recruiting QBs at this point. We just picked up McCoy and Wood last year and now we have Ash. These guys could start for a lot of teams, in addition we have soph GG. That's a lot of talent for a very long time.

As it is right now, there is a good chance we are going to lose one of these guys to a transfer.

Agreed TJ, and with what we have on campus and coming, it makes sense that the best we could do for Brewer was offer a grey shirt. That being said, with the normal attrition at the position and players who play their way to other positions, you can never have too many quarterbacks. At worst, we should always sign one qb a year, and two good ones if they both want to come to UT. Let 'em play it out in competition head to head.

Seems like I remember that some great HS quaterbacks make outstanding defensive backs. Maybe Bradley will ring a bell.
