Will be forgotten in 2 years!

I HATE Guys like this!

He’s Avg “ at best”.......”yet “ you and I are breaking our *** to provide for our families!

embarrassing!

I don't hate the guy, but he is receiving some bad advice from someone or group and is mislead. He's a kid trying to make a power play in a grown-ups world, and now that he and some of his buddies have kicked the hornets nest, he will find out real quick there are folks that won't tolerate his behavior. Instead of approaching the administration via the proscribed grievance process and protocol, he made a public spectacle of his issues, demanded his and his buddies' issues and demands met met by the start of the fall semester, or, as he stated, he would "not play another down" at UT. In doing so, he has brought embarrassment on our University. He's going up against folks much more experienced, much smarter and better educated than he. I do not believe that this will turn out well for him and the other culprits. This may even cost Tom Herman problems as well. We'll see how the BoR handles it, but as I've said before, no one person or group of persons are bigger than the University.

Everyone is focused on the demands, but lets look at who initiated this (at least as far as we know)...
Was somewhat of a malcontent last year and was part of at least one period of distractions
Entered portal earlier this year then removed himself
Publicly threatens to sit
Now the face of these demands

If I/we were going to entertain any of these type things I do not think it coming from this particular player (whose been more headache than contributor) is a good starter

I forgot about that issue and his entering the portal. If he does it again, let him go! We don't need these "all about me" types on the team as a distraction. If he decides to sit out, that is most likely a violation of their scholarship agreement. If so, his "ship can be pulled and he can be sent home.

You have to wonder if the accusations against the WR coach were valid to begin with. Maybe Mehringer just told the agitators that they were crazy to think The Eyes of Texas is racist.

The demand to give 0.5% of the athletic revenue to BLM is extortion.

The demand to get rid of The Eyes of Texas is just short-sighted. Do you really think you can stop 90,000 fans from singing it? Seems like this could set off quite a bit of tension and further drive a wedge between black fans and white fans. Isn't the whole "movement" to eliminate color and not highlight it??

Maybe 40,000 fans this year. I won't be among them. Probably never again.
Thanks for giving me my Saturdays back!

Oh man.....great take. I can see it now....
UT agrees to get rid of the song, but everyone spontaneously starts singing it in unison louder than ever.

I''m for giving Black Lies Matter a onetime small percentage of our donation to help them start their own school and football program, where all the malcontents can go prepare for the NFL. Problem is, all the BLM leaders couldn't line their pockets if they had to do something for someone else.

It has been brought up, but I am now more convinced than ever that there needs to be professional minor leagues in football and basketball, just like in baseball, for the players that just want to go to the NFL. It would clean up a LOT of college football's problems in general.

77,

Not objecting to your thought, but I go back to a young man who "slid in the side door" of a major state university (not in Texas). He arrived with lots of athletic talent and no academic ability. He was able to read on a second grade level; do single digit addition and subtraction on his fingers. That kid played four years of varsity football, won the Hype$man, and in four years was doing the equivalent of 12th grade work in the classroom. While I am not now, nor have I ever, advocated Texas do that (OK, Butch Hadnot was an exception, but that was personal with the Aggies), I think he is communicates more clearly than some of the analysts he works with on network TV.

Yes, he is the exception to the rule, but is an example of how college athletics can turn a kid's life around. Unfortunately, many never get that opportunity.
