Crazy Antonio Brown will appear for the Bucs for the first time; plus Michael Thomas will be back for the Saints.

Brees strikes first with a good drive and a TD pass after an opening three and out by Brady's bunch. . . .Tampa Bay goes three and out again on its second possession

New Orleans scores again. 21-0. Saints have completed passes to 11 different receivers with lots of time left in the second quarter.

31-0: the only thing holding back the Saints tonight is Jared Cook (one fumble at the Bucs' one yard line and a dropped pass on third down to force the Saints to settle for a field goal)

Brady is picked off again. End of the half. Saints will get the ball first in the second half. Don't you know NBC is sick? They thought they had the marquee game of the day.

Bucs recover Saints fumble and drive short field to first and goal at the one. The Saints hold! Nothing works for Bucs tonight. Must be some sort of hex.

Tampa Bay only called 4 rushing plays to 41 passing plays, not counting a kneel-down to end the game. 5 rushing attempts in a game is a new NFL record low. Previous was 6 by Minnesota 2018, Arizona 2006, New England 2004, and Chicago Cardinals 1933.

I wonder how often an NFL team only gets 46 offensive snaps in total in an entire game, not counting punts? I found this statistic--"According to Pro Football Reference, every team in the NFL this season has run between 947 (Cincinnati) and 1178 (Philadelphia) offensive plays through 14 games. That's an average of 67 - 84 plays per game for the offense."

I wonder what year that was from? That seems high to me, more like college numbers (pro teams generally run fewer plays due to less hurry-up and not having the first-down clock stop rule).

NFL Football Stats - NFL Team Plays per Game on TeamRankings.com shows teams averaging between 58 and 73 plays/game so far in 2020, and between 55 and 69 plays/game for 2019. That fits more in line with what I tend to notice. Either way, 46 is still pretty low.
