Is he going to miss extented time? We need that dude for the run!

Better hope not. That guy is CRITICAL to our run. I do like that we've got some solid players to step in and am REALLY glad that the stepping in is happening now so that if it has to happen later, Etier and Weymouth will be comfortable working the middle together.

Hope he's just resting it.

Loy was taken out in the second game against La. Tech. last Sunday. This weekend he missed the last two games against Missouri. I hope it is nothing serious.

This could be a real problem, I am worried. Hope it is OK with some rest. Loy has been sensational at shortstop. Just what we don't need right before regionals.

Apparently Loy was hit in the shoulder with a pitch last week, then reinjured the shoulder sliding into a base Friday night, and will get an MRI. That's all that was reported.

Word is that Brandon's MRI was negative (i.e., it's not a serious injury). His pain level should lessen in a few days.

That all sounds like Brandon likely won't play in the Big XII tournament (or maybe not until late in the tournament) and the odds are that he'll be ready for the regional.

If that second-hand info is correct, then that's very good news for Texas baseball.

We need Brandon healthy. Give him as many days as need be.

He's another Longhorn I think we'll see in the major leagues within 3 yrs.

Update from the Statesman

Texas coach Augie Garrido said an MRI of Longhorns shortstop Brandon Loy’s left scapula showed a contusion after he re-injured it over the weekend.

“We got the MRI yesterday in Missouri and had a doctor here (in Oklahoma City) take a look at it. We’re not sure what’s causing the pain because there’s no structural damage,” Garrido said. “The MRI showed a contusion, and we think the swelling is affecting the nerves and that’s what is causing his pain.”

I'd say hold him out of the conference tournament games for sure, and then test whether he's ready for regionals if he still can't lift the arm.

This is terrible timing. The shoulder is a complicated joint, it's tricky to diagnose and treat. This will likely bother him for at least a couple of months. Hope I'm wrong.

Watching a special report from KEYE and they stressed Loy is getting better but will not play the first game and then it is a game by game decision. I'd rather him not play this weekend so he will be fresh for Regionals and the Supers. They also showed clips of highlights from the Missouri games. Loy was running home and he wasn't moving his left arm at all. Not quite as dramatic looking as a football player with a separated shoulder but not good either. He needs to rest it.

Read today that he really wants to play but Coach is playing it very safe so if he thinks he could play than I'm guessing it's much better and hopefully the weekend's rest will get him as close to 100% as we need him for Regionals.

It was on the news this morning that Loy will be back in the line-up on Friday. This was per Brandon and Augie.

I hope he is 100%. Not only is he vital defensively, he is the Horns leading bunter. We hit into numerous double-plays and failed at bunting in OKC. This is where not having Loy in the line-up really hurt, not just losing his glove in the field.
Looking forward to Friday night!
