Okay...I know this will sound really mean but oh well...

I had no idea who their manager was before today. When they first started the broadcast and showed him sitting on the bus and then getting off and were saying "Corky Palmer has waited all his life to come with Southern MIss here"....I really thought he must be some sort of mentally handicapped die-hard fan or something along those lines.

Hey, we need to see if this is SOP for the man - maybe USM fans have been collecting "Corkyisms" these many years?

I heard a Yogiism (or maybe it only qualifies as a non-Yogitur) live on the radio many years ago. I don't remember what they were broadcasting or if Yogi was a color commentator or just being interviewed (mighta been during the Astros years). Someone had had a big RBI day, and one of the talking heads said "But, you know, this man right here holds the all-time professional baseball record, with 25 ribbies in a single day." The other one chimed in with "That's right, it was at Richmond (? I think), but it was two games, isn't that right, Yogi?" And Yogi said, "Naw, you're both wrong. It was a double-header."

[But, still... TWENTY-FIVE ribbies - hell, I don't care if it was FIVE games! Yogi was a hard guy to walk; it always looked like he thought any pitch was fair game if he could reach it with the bat. I saw him (on TV) hit a ball that had BOUNCED... damn good thing it was foul, there's no telling what kind of tantrum the other team's manager would have thrown if he'd golfed it over that short left field fence!]
