My 1998 Honda Accord had the brake light on the dash on then it went out. When I checked the brake lights in back only 2 where lite. It seems to me there should be a total of four on.
There is a bulb indicator light-if two bulbs are out, change them, it will keep the light from coming on. It resets when you turn the key off, won't come on until you step on the brake pedal.
If it is the actual "brake" light, you probably have low brake fluid in the reservoir, add a couple of ounces.
If it is indeed the bulb indicator, then you need not only all the brake light bulbs to work, there are probably four, not two, and the bulbs must be the correct bulbs for that model, not some generic bulbs from the auto parts store. They have to be rated the correct amperage, because if they are differemt. they might work, but fool the bulb indicator, causing it to come on.
Also, those bulb indicators can go bad, and the part that goes bad is part of one of the taillight housings, which costs more money to replace than most people want to spend on fixing a bulb indicator.
But put four correct bulbs in there, and it will probably work right.
