Boz Scaggs

I was in college at his zenith... I wore out my 8 track tapes of him.... especially Silk Degrees. Ahh, those were the good ole days.

He performed in Austin tonight for the birthday celebration of the Paramount and the State theaters. I have always been a fan.

Boz played in Steve Miller's band for a little while and then went on to a solo career. The dude has one the most distinctive voices out there. Silk Degrees is still in my top five all time albums (yeah I have the album AND I had the 8 track and now I own the CD).

When Silk Degrees came out, I thought Skaggs was a traitor to all things rock and blues.

Of course, the girls loved it, and my wife still does, so I have developed a certain appreciation for that style, but would rather listen to his cover of Somebody Loan Me a Dime, etc

Saw him a couple of years ago at the Livermore winery, and agree, he is still a consummate pro. In 04 or so he released a collection of blues, a new recording, not bad.

we would stop in and have a drink at his bar when we visited SF (The Blue Note), he was usually in there - appeared to be a cool guy. Silk degrees needs to be added to my ipod.

"Say what do you think of gentlemen wearing mink?"

I'm lazy and just have "HITS!", but it's a cassette.
