Boston restaurants

If you had one evening in Boston and could eat at any restaurant in the entire city, where would you eat?

You might start by selecting a cuisine. Boston does a few cuisines very well: seafood, Italian, and Portuguese come to mind.

For seafood, I recommend the Daily Catch in the North End on Hanover Street. Seats about 16 people at a time, the space is shared with the cook and dishwasher, the menu is written on the wall, and they serve wine in plastic cups... but they prepare the best seafood in the city, with an Italian touch. I've had everything on the menu and nothing has disappointed. The lobster is fantastic. Other big winners are the Monk Fish Marsala, broiled tuna, and calamari+clams pasta combo. All of the pasta dishes are served in the pan, fresh off the stove. The Link

"Classic" Boston seafood restaurants (touristy but the food is decent) include the Union Oyster House at Gov't Center and Legal's (a chain with locations all over the city).

For Italian there are a number of places in the North End that are all quite good. Grotto on Bowdoin St in Beacon Hill is excellent and secluded.

Portuguese cuisine isn't the best in the world, but they do it quite well at Casa Portugal on Cambridge St in Inman Square (in Cambridge).

Gone to Texas:

thanks. the seafood restaurant is about 3 blocks from our hotel. it is much appreciated.
