Border Security BS

Having all these Republican candidates talk about Border Security in Texas elections makes me wonder if the candidates are dumber than Rick Perry or simply believe the electorate is dumber than Rick Perry. Growing up around cattle, I've certainly stepped in stuff with the smells like their Border Security message.

Seriously. Our border with Mexico stretches from San Diego to Brownsville. People got across, over and under and around a much shorter and heavily guarded Berlin Wall -- a border that had no regular commercials crossings, whereas billions of dollars worth of goods and services cross the Mexican border every month and hundreds of thousands of people cross for legitimate business and recreational reasons. We can't set up a several mile deep "demilitarized zone" with machine guns like North Korea does to keep it citizens in and outsiders out.

The National Guard has no training or utility in the sort of duties that would actually catch illegal crossers, like say Border Patrol agents or Sheriff's Deputies in border counties. It's like sending troop of Boy Scouts over to fix a car that needs a valve job.
Now if Hummers full of Zeta's armed with submachine guns crossed the border in force, bringing with them armed jihadists, then the national guard would have some utility. That's not the border security problem we have, no matter how scary the speeches.

Border enforcement is about as good as ever. Folks get through -- always have and always will -- even if every elective office is filled by a Republican and every National Guardsman is called to active duty.

The dems don't realize that you have to have a border before you can secure it.

All types of lies can be contained in statistics and graphs, but it doesnt appear that Obama is trying to flood the country with illegals. I believe deportations are up as well. Yall should quit making me defend liberals

Deportations are down, pretty significantlyThe Link

This Atlantic article shows having more agents has not translated into more secure bordersThe Link

so I guess it is important to look at facts.

one of the biggest providers of services to the illegal children that flocked in last summer is something called Southwest Key.

The Link

Southwest Key charges over $300 a day per child to the Federal Gov. (i.e. to the American people). Now that's about $110,000 a year per child. They take them to petting zoos and give them guitar lessons, all the while "respecting their cultures". Now if you multiply 110,000 times the number of estimated "refugee children", that's some serious bucks.

Now I know most libs don't pay taxes, but if you did, wouldn't you wonder how long we can keep this up? And, you think it's fair that the American government is spending more per child on illegals than kids born in this country?

Come on Larry, you posted a graph without the last two years. Why? Oh that's right, the number of agents went down...not much but still down with this year's number not yet published. Also, the number on the Canadian border has more than tripled in the last six years.

What you "know" wouldn't fit in your ugly wife's smelly c**t.

As the Horn Fans ship sinks, civilization starts to break down. It's no surprise that it's the libs that cast off any semblance of decency first.

Vol, I posted that graph because it all I could find. Most stats I could find quickly also only went through 2011. If you have more recent data please post it.
