Barnes said Bond was close to coming back from the foot injury about a week ago, but they don't want to rush it.

I've got LHN on the tube in the other room (Sat, 12/29, 9:00 a.m.); just heard that Bond "has been cleared to play for the Rice game on Saturday."

Not saying he'll play, just that he's now available.

He's playing and has like 2 points on a put back. Another
ugly game against a small Rice team whose offense consists
of jacking up three pointers and falling back on defense.

They don't even try to compete on the offensive boards.
They were hitting the treys for awhile and kept a lead till
late in the half. Then they went cold and Texas took a two
point lead. Tied at 26 at the half.

Texas offense is sluggish as usual and missing free throws.
I know they have missed their last 5 in a row. We made one
three by Feliz in the half and turning the ball over too much.

Texas wins 57-41 because Rice couldn't hit treys in the
second half and were manhandled on the boards like 46-23.

Texas shoots 37% from the field but it's enough because Rice
shot 27%, scored 15 points in the second half and was in
deep foul trouble.


Ridley did not play much at all in the second half. Hope he didn't
get hurt. Have not heard anything yet that he did.

Texas has played decent defense at times, but it seems their success is generally dependent on the opponents inability to make shots.

Well Bond played against Baylor and was very successful at moving screens. I think he got 2-3 offensive fouls on them and took away any rhythm (if we ever had any) while on offense.

He was pretty bad against WVU as well. Only managed a few minutes and bricked two FTs.
