I rarely make a big to-do about what Lunardi does for several reasons, but something about sending Texas to Boise to play for a spot in Indy is unsettling...
In all honesty, I think we are headed for an unprotected 4 seed at this point. That means we're probably getting shipped to the no man's land pods - either Boise or Portland. I'd certainly prefer to not play Gonzaga in a 2nd round matchup up there, but any other matchup should be equally inconvenient for our opponent.
I'd really like the last 90 seconds of that Michigan State game back.
Yeah, this is quite possible, like Spokane two years ago.
Big East and ACC teams are going to take up enough top 3 seeds that sites like Greensboro, Phily, Dayton, and maybe Miami will be sucked dry by them. If Xavier falters that can get Texas to KC, but OU fans are probably going to rule the Sprint Center. No different from last year, though, when Pig Sooie was the chant of choice during UT's first two NCAA games.
There are so few teams that can get protected seeds in Portland and Boise that UT being sent there may not be a bad thing when it's all said and done. Gonzaga is good enough to run through the WCC, which come March could give them around a 3 seed. UT shouldn't be a 6, so no worry about playing the Zags in that scenario in Boise. Even much-weaker-than-last-season Pac 10 teams are knocking each other off, and UCLA's RPI is so low they have to be close to perfect to get into the top 4 seeds. Remember the Bruins have zero good OOC wins, and the best win Washington has OOC is Oklahoma State, so they'll need to fight to stay in the Northwest. Arizona State may make it up there, but do Sun Devil fans travel for hoops?
