Bohls says Baylor will come after Gilbert...............

We may lose Gilbert, but he doesn't sound like a head coach during press conferences, so I'll bet he's our OC for a while. If you could hire Lincoln Riley, would you hire Gilbert?

If we are spectacular this year, and OC at Texas proves to be a one year stepping stone to a big time head coaching opportunity, we'll have our choice of hot young assistants to fill the seat, especially with the outstanding freshmen and sophomores we have on campus at QB, OL, WR and RB.

Worst case scenario -- we go 7-5 or 8-4 and lose Gilbert while alum's enthusiasm for Charlie Strong wanes a little more. Then we've face a predicament similar to the one we had last year.

OC at Texas, or HC at Baylor....Austin or Waco.....Screw Baylor! Who would take that job was all the recent dirt they fell into? Besides, they may still get the boot out of the B12 down to lower conferences. They can be king **** of turd island. And Bohls need to STFU!!

Joe,

You should finish your thought. It is Texas OC to Baylor HC to QB coach at Directional Louisiana.

while not the greatest of sources should we fear losing Sterlin, esp if we have a very sucessful campaign............discuss.

Kirk Bowels gets more boring by the day. Years ago, his columns seemed meaningful. Nowadays, he's just another presser begging for attention by trying to stir up controversy.
And who the hell cares what movies he likes?
As for Baylor, the problems with that program are not over just because of internal changes.
By the time all of the crap finishes falling in Waco, Art Briles' son will be their only hope.

Man, if I'm SG, which I'm clearly not, no way do I take that job. Surely lifestyle will factor into the equation if that offer ever happens. Why would he leave for Baylor, when hypotheticfally after a few very successful seasons at UT as OC he gets much more prestigious offers down the line? Not going to happen.

Bohls said it was a guess, but it is not an unreasonable guess. SG will likely be a hot commodity by year's end. Some assistants are on the fast track to head coaching status, and have a strong drive to get there.
And half of everyone at Baylor blames UT and/or the media for their scandal and think it is overblown, incredibly. So they would like to hurt Texas if they can.
I said during the game we would be lucky to keep Gilbert for two years. He will have offers, likely from better places than Baylor. If he hangs around and rides the crest of what UT is likely to achieve in the next two or three years, he may have his pick of HC jobs, and at places that don't have lingering scandals hanging over the athletic department, administration, campus police, and community.

If SG had to be told that Strong would be around for at least two seasons, the normal expectation would have been to get a two year commitment from SG. (Not sure anyone from Texas knew what they were doing so they may have forgot that part of Negotiation 101.)

Houston after Herman leaves would be a better guess. Baylor still has real issues within the school itself which will take several years to overcome.

Houston after Herman leaves would be a better guess

Exactly what I was thinking, VH. SG will be a top target for post-Herman Coogs.

If UH gets invited to Big 12 and a coach had a BU and UH offer on the table, I'd consider H-town the better option even if less money.

Just because Baylor comes after SG, does not imply he would be willing to accept the job. I believe he will have several choices in the not too distant future.
