Bob Costas Goes Off On Gun Control

I changed the channel. Not the time nor the place for his diatribe. Can't stand to look at his Grecian formula, face lifted mug anyway. Why does it take some athlete killing himself with a gun versus the dozens of other people that died at the end of a gun that day?

And Belcher could have easily strangled his girlfriend and hung himself in the Chiefs locker room. Guys just choose guns more than women in suicide.

If Jovan Belcher didn't possess a gun; any kind of sharp object such as a knife, sword, saw, or piece of broken glass; any kind of potential strangling or suffocation device such as a rope, chain, scarf, plastic bag, seat cushion, pillow, or bed sheet; any kind of object that could inflict blunt force trauma such as a baseball bat, hammer, tennis racket, pogo stick, pipe, club, chair leg, automobile, boat, motorcycle, or aircraft; any kind of toxic material such as bleach, drain cleaner, paint thinner/turpentine, insecticide, or antifreeze; was physically restrained from being in close proximity to Kasanrda while she was also in close proximity to any falling hazard such as a roof, window, ladder, cliff, ledge, or waterfalll; or in close proximity to any significant body of water such as a lake, ocean, bay, bathtub, toilet, sink, bidet, washing machine, bucket or large mixing bowl, then they would both be live today . . . unless of course he just decided to beat her to death with his bare hands and then choke himself. Then they'd be dead anyway.

In other words, Costas is full of ****.

The only solution to this type of violence is for all citizens to be preemptively incarcerated and monitored at all times by the government. I know it sounds extreme but if it could save just one life then it is obviously worth it.

Yep, thats the only way you stop crime, by treating everyone like a criminal and monitoring everyone. But who is doing the monitoring? Whats to keep them from abusing their amazing powers of being able to spy on everyone and having access to all their information? Could lead to something far far worse.

At the end of the day, you cant protect people from themselves. You cant stop people from doing bad things. No matter what laws are passed, people will still do bad things. Drug laws, gun laws, it doesnt matter. The War on Terror. It does not matter. Freedom is about taking responsibility for yourself and about taking chances. Costas can suck it.

Costas should stick to what he's good at- whining about salary cap in MLB and sitting in a sound stage during the Olympics and holding cliche interviews.

Kudos Bob!!! I hope this ignites a movement to combat this madness of guns in our culture!

If laws restricting guns were the answer, Chicago wouldn't be the murder capital of the USA.

Even if the goal of eliminating hand guns were a good idea, that cats already out of the bag. It would be like prohibition. Didn't work on alcohol. Isn't working on marijuana. More laws would simply create a lucrative underground market and criminals would wind up with the majority of the fire power.

Why are guns "madness"? Don't you think the willingness to use guns to commit murder or assault is a more worthy topic of discussion?

I ask this as their is no academic finding that shows gun ownership as positively correlated with violence. Income levels and educational levels tend to be the only thing that shows some pattern regarding gun violence. Ownership certainly does not.

Mental illness is a major problem in the u.s. Guns in the hands of the mentally ill is certainly a recipe for disaster but we can't make all of our laws based on crazy people.
