BO spending our money?

'WASHINGTON — The White House is offering more money to insurance companies as an incentive for them to let people keep insurance policies that were to have been canceled next year.

The administration floated several proposals on Monday to “help offset the loss in premium revenue and profit” that it said might occur if insurers went along with President Obama’s request to reinstate canceled policies.

Millions of people have received notices saying their policies were being canceled because they did not comply with minimum coverage requirements of the new health care law.

In a notice published Monday in the Federal Register, the administration acknowledged that insurers had a valid concern: They may be stuck with sicker, higher-cost customers in the new insurance exchanges because healthier Americans will stay on their existing health plans for another year.

Facing a political furor over the cancellation of insurance policies, Mr. Obama announced on Nov. 14 that he would temporarily waive some requirements of the new federal law and allow insurers to renew “current policies for current enrollees” for a year.

Insurers criticized the president’s move, saying it could upset the assumptions on which they had set premiums for new insurance products providing coverage in 2014. "The Link

Why will our money have to be spent on this? Where will the money come from?
Where is the authorization to spend this money?

I think we reached a point long ago where it makes more sense to scrap the whole thing and start over.

You would think Congress would step in at this point and assert its budgetary rights. For those familiar with government procedures, how would that work? Would Congress take the issue to the courts?

mrD
You have explained it well and I know you are right.

I also know this senate would never try BO.
and I think the house has no stomach to even bring impeachment.
BO knows that as well
which is why he has acted with complete disregard for what a POTUS' actual powers are

If he truly has the people's best interests at heart he would have stayed within his actual powers long ago.
That ship sailed and we likely will suffer for generations

Interesting that a House committee held hearings today on Powers conveyed to the POTUS under our constitution
and whether BO has abused or ignored the powers.

^^^ Impeachment isn't even a remote option, regardless of the offense. As for a court case, it is likely that the Supreme Court wouldn't take up the issue. But by the same token, wouldn't the Supreme Court also say that it is a political matter if a group such as the ACLU brought a case stating that individuals are being burdened by presidential buyoffs?

I guess what I am asking is whether there is some practical method that would curb the presidential overreach? I think even if the House just sanctioned the President, it would empower Democrats rather than curb presidential overreach. What about an injunction against the presidential buyoff of insurance companies for political purposes? At some point the president would win, but it would slow him down and perhaps weaken the president by bringing the issue to the forefront.

Stuff like this is why I am not a fan of Obama. I thought he preached to the American public that the ACA is the law of the land and it shouldn't be changed and couldn't be changed. But, when it fits his needs or objectives, it can be tinkered with and changed.

Quite the hypocrisy.

In addition to1. BO paying insurance companies when they don't make their projections ( think ANY insurance company will have " over" projected)
and 2. paying insurance companies to reinstate the cancelled" grandfathered" policies that POS BO lied about( OT)
NOW BO will use our money to pay insurance companies premiums for policies he says people are signing up for now
since the idiot and his team don't have a way on their billion $ web site to actually collect the money and transfer it to the insurance companies.
from link
"The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has not yet finished building the part of the website that would transfer billions of dollars in subsidies for plan premiums and cost-sharing payments to insurance companies.
Julie Bataille, a spokeswoman for CMS, said the government will make the payments to insurers for premium tax credits and cost sharing on time. The Link

oh sure they say the companies will pay back our money given to them by BO.
Anyone think that will end well for us taxpayers, or whichever future generation BO is borrowing from to fix yet another F' UP?

So far all these problems are JUST from the website
why would anyone breathing think the actual implementation of obamacare has any chance of being anything other than the biggest F'Up in history?

These two Constitutional lawyers testified before Congress that BO exceeded his authority with his pronouncements on Obummercare.

Jonathan Turley is, ironically, a huge BO supporter.

In reply to:

Yes, but politicians aren't willing to do anything about it. From what I heard yesterday, politicians are stating that the ultimate judge is the electorate. I am willing to guess that fewer than 25% of the population is even aware that the president is not legally allowed to change Obamacare. Considering non-Democrat politicians aren't screaming from the rooftops, I can only assume that Republicans feel that if they can get a Republican in the Whitehouse that they will be afforded the same carte blanche. From my perspective, I think setting this precedent severely damages the country.

If anyone listened to or read the transcript from the law profs yesterday Turley explained there really isn't a way other than impeachment to stop BO
As he explained, for a court to hear the case someone with standing has to bring the suit.
And that apparently there are very few if any who can show exact damages.

What does it say about the character of BO or his respect for our constitutionthat he has so abused the powers of the office?

Plenty PLENTY of GOP Congress people have shouted long and loud in front of whatever mic they can get about this issue but Boehner is too wimpy to start impeachment proceedings.
Hopefully after the 14 elections there can be a new GOP speaker

I think you mean Obama couldn't be found guilty by the Senate. He could be impeached, just like Clinton was. That happens in the House

but the Senate for sure would never get a 2/3rds guilty vote in favor

You are right that no one appears to have the stomach for it

even though his approval among the American people is sinking steadily
and there seem to be actual grounds on which to impeach

Uni
I think you are correct. The founding fathers surely thought that if a Pres acted so contrary to the Constitution Congress would put the country first.
Now I don't believe either party would.
No doubt BO knows he is safe and he will continue to destroy.
