U.S. President Barack Obama has called for direct talks with Iran in a secret letter to the Islamic Republic's supreme leader that also warned Tehran against closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a conservative Iranian lawmaker was quoted as saying Wednesday.

Conservative lawmaker Ali Motahari revealed the content of the letter days after the Obama administration said it was warning Iran through public and private channels against any action that threatens the flow of oil from the Persian Gulf.

"In the letter, Obama called for direct talks with Iran," the semiofficial Fars news agency quoted Motahari as saying Wednesday. "The letter also said that closing the Strait of Hormuz is (Washington's) red line."

"The first part of the letter contains threats and the second part contains an offer for dialogue," he added.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast confirmed that Tehran received the letter and was considering a possible response."The Link

The original post is like a blind man commenting on the color scheme in Rothko painting.

1. How do you know this isn't "skillful"?
2. Why are you believing a "semi-official" Iranian news agency in their recounting of the letter? You probably also believe Al Jazeera, huh?

This is almost as bad as the recent poster who linked a Washington Times article in his futile rant that Obama was flagrantly violating the Constitution with his recess appointments.

But you continue to avoid the point: why is this "not skillful" (assuming it is true)?

I'd love to hear your take on what constitutes "skillful diplomacy", all the moreso since we only have a conclusion by the semi-official news source and none of the details.

Some of your are attempting to play with toys in your sandbox for which you are not licensed.

1. I said " according to" and "If true"
2.the source is AP
3. they quote the foreign minister spokesman by name

I repeat IF TRUE this would be pretty shoddy diplomacy and it would be, I sincerely hope but have no confidence BO is smarter than this.

let's see if AP or anyother news source comments on this further

Yes, "according to" News of the World, "if true", JFK and Hitler are gay lovers in South America.

That doesn't mean I make a post about it, nor does it mean I merely parrot back the headline devoid of any critical commentary.

You stubbornly repeat your conclusion that it is "shoddy diplomacy" yet are incapable of giving any reasons. That is not surprising.

So... tell us your reasons why this is shoddy/not skillful. Other than you just don't like Obama.

2.the source is AP

Do you know what "source" means in this context? AP is reporting on what some other news agency said. AP is not the "source" here, it is the original news agency.

Lucky for you I like to play the game of "how many errors can I find in your posts". Makes for fun times here.

But seriously, you don't know jack whether this is shoddy/unskillful diplomacy. I doubt that you know anything about foreign affairs and diplomatic maneuvering. And if you did, there are insufficient details given here to adequately analyze the claim.

You go rabid whenever the Obama bell is rung. We get that. But you could at least be more artful and entertaining when shaking your head and covering us with your spittle.

BO "negotiated" our departure from Iraq without ever meeting with the President of Iraq. I suppose a letter is a step up. Maybe he sent them a reset button as well.

BO "negotiated" our departure from Iraq without ever meeting with the President of Iraq.

Assuming you know what you're talking about, can you please tell us the difference between the President of Iraq and the Prime Minister of Iraq? What are their roles and responsibilities? Did Obama likewise (as you claim) not neet with the Prime Minister?

Can you tell us the critical flaw in Obama not "meeting" with Iraq's President prior to troop withdrawal? Presumably you mean meeting face-to-face?

I understand that with Wikipedia being down you'll be at a loss to respond for a day or two. That's ok.

Per
You asked "why is this "not skillful" (assuming it is true)? "

IF it is true then first Bo threatend and Then asked for talks.

Ever heard of the carrot and stick diplomacy tactic?

Your faux outrage is amusing but really you should stick to your Paula Deen posts. That is up your allley

letters, lunch, email, texting, facebook and twitter are for wimps. when you need something done, pick up the phone or meet in person.
