First of all, is there anything more racist than the teleprompter in chief doing the "holla playa" sign whilst pimping free phones.

I also love the "fact" that this is not funded by taxpayers......blah blah, but a mandatory fee forced upon anyone with phone service....

I couldn't figure out if this was a deleted scene from idiocracy or an article from the onion.
 
The lifeline program has been extended to include cell phones -- rightly so as they are the primary means of communications these days and do not cost much more than a land line -- but the Obama administration has absolutely nothing to do with that website or the term "Obamaphone." It's hilarious and says something about your perception that you could reach that conclusion based on the linked website. It's a .net address with bad web design, poorly written content and no updates since Dec. 2011. It links to a another .net address with lists of small wireless carriers and is clearly an attempt by these carriers to receive business from those eligible for a free phone by posing as a government website and a very poor one at that.
 
I thought BO was paying for everything out his "stash". That what the folks in Detroit said when they lined up for stimulus money(bribes).
 
I agree, they should be referred to as Horn6721 phones.

Naw, let the foodstamp president take credit for the give away phones.

Those on the dole are going to vote for him anyway. They seem happy being out of work and believing in Obama.

Horn, It's a very obscure site linked off a larger one with the same goal but without the heavy use of the President's image. I doubt anyone at the FCC or in the administration is aware of the website. I am also not sure if they would even be able to have it taken down. The images used are likely public domain and they never claim to be a government website or agent of the government. Still, aybe you should contact the FCC and inform them of its existence instead of posting on here and blaming the president somehow.

If you wanted to debate the value of a government assistance program started under Clinton, expanded under Bush and reformed under Obama, then let's do that but don't bring a ridiculous website into it. The subsidy we're talking about is $10/phone and from my experience working in low-income schools and trying to reach parents, ensuring a working phone line is of immense value to the general pubic welfare and especially poor households with children and the elderly.

He can get it taken down, if just the force/ power of his office isn't enough there will be other ways.

But what incentive does BO have to take it down? all the information is correct and it makes him look good.

How many people will think it really was BO who gave them that phone?
 
Has there been a lot of publicity out there about this particular web site? It seems pretty obscure to me. Not referring to the phone subsidy program, but this website and it's misrepresentations.

And again, the administration would have to have legal basis to have the site taken down. I don't think they would, but I'm not a lawyer. I also contest the fact that this is on anyone's radar in the administration. Maybe in the FCC because they're implementing reforms to reduce fraud, which I think might be encouraged by sites like this. Apparently some people who did not meat the qualificaitons were receiving the phones, so the FCC is implementing a database system to better track who receives the phones and their qualifications.

This "Obamaphone" thing is actually a meme from after Obama took office.

Like I said before, the site you posted appears to be trying to capitalize on that rumor. If you click on the links it eventually takes you to one of several small carriers. There are a lot of internet ads similar to this that I see out there related to welfare benefits and sorts...taking advantage of misinformation that's out there. I don't think the practice says much about the administration, but it does say something about people's intelligence.
 
The OP is just another fail. Anyone who thinks that the original link is an actual "government" program is jaded/deluded/stupid/et al.
