AAFES is having an unadvertised black friday sale on the HCT 42" TV. $400. BUT, never heard of it and can't find any consumer reports on it. Anyone have any experience with this brand?
If you don't know the brand, DON'T BUY. PERIOD. I sold TV's at Sears for 6 months. Listen.
It may seem cheap right now, but we were selling a couple of economy brands at Sears.
I remember when one of them went completely bad.
Let me share the sound of that "Proscan" brand LCD TV breaking. This is a sound that lasted for about 45 minutes before we turned it off (and then the screen cracked).
That's right. the image on the screen was frozen for about 40 minutes while we were trying to decide what to do about it before the bulb popped and the LCD panel actually bulged outward. By the way, LCD's should NEVER DO THAT. EVER.
DO NOT BUY A BRAND YOU HAVE HEARD NOTHING ABOUT. That TV practically exploded.
If anything, buy a freaking Vizio. They're not bad TV's. If you want to buy something more obscure than even that, feel free to PM or email me. I'll tell you whatever I happen to know about that brand (which may be little or nothing, mind you).
Seriously, investing in a Sony/Samsung/Sharp TV is probably worth your money. This is relatively new technology, and they manufacture it very well. Don't throw your money away on a POS TV. You'll only end up hating yourself in the end. Again, feel free to PM me.
