I thought this was a joke at first. If someone were going to do a modern redux of the 70's blaxploitation thing, I always figured it would be Tarantino.

The trailer was very well done in that it was reminiscent of early 70's films of the same ilk. The title character looks to be from the same mold as blaxploitation heroes Shaft, Dolemite, Priest (Super Fly), BJ Hammer, and my favorite, Black Belt Jones. Right on!

If you haven't seen the redband trailer, its definitely worth your time. There are two, the one you want is the one with Dolemite himself doing the narration(at least some are saying he did it before his death). Some serious quotables in there. Beware, its rated 'R-uh'

I was going to mention the redband trailer in my post, but forgot. (way grittier 70's feel along with the language & nudity) Also, I looked at the full cast on IMDb and saw some actor (and character) names to suggest that this is going to be just as much a comedic spoof on the genre (like I'm Gonna Git You Sucka) as reworking a straight up blaxploitation flick. There is also a good history of the genre on the film's website.
