black and white on blue ray

The older I get the more I appreciate black and white films. I watched The Last Pictture Show again for the first time in a long time a few weeks ago and thought it one of the best photographed films ever. I was in a McMurtry mood and so I watched Hud again. Same.

So here is the question: what black and white films look best on blue ray?

The guy at Hollywood Elsewhere thinks blue ray b&w is the best and I respect his opinions on a lot of things and he definitely watches more films, old and new, than I.

What is the opinion of the readers of this board about the best visually of the ones on blue ray?

Anybody seen Ox Bow Incident? That seems like it would be awesome.

Anyway, thanks for any suggestions. And Merry Christmas

You can't go wrong with Citizen Kane.
Lot's of great lighting cinematography.

I recently bought a boxed blu ray set of the first season of the walking dead which includes a black and white pilot (1st) episode.
I absolutely loved it. Another homage to Cesar Romero. I also think originally they were trying to stay more faithful to the graphic novel which is black and white. The scene where he wakes up in the hospital is so much better in black and white.

I can't answer your technical question, but Hud and The Last Picture Show are my choices for a definitive Texas double feature. That Texas is fading away which makes those movies even more precious as time passes.

I think I'll put them in the Netflix queue.
