The hilarious consistency I see in this is so often the Tea Partier will say "Obama won't release his birth certificate like you and I would have to to get a passport" Then I point out that such a certificate has been produced for the public, examined by journalist and indepdendents and found valid, Then they immediately switch and say he hasn't released the "long form" I think Obama wants to keep this issue festering because it's an issue that galvanizes what we may politely term his "less sophisticated" opponents, trying to make all his opponents look stupid by consorting with them. For examle, by validating the "birthers" concern, Trump has driven up short term numbers. He's also ensured anybody from the middle of the political spectrum on left will realize that either he's one of the crazies or is hell bent on appealing to the crazies.
