Bird problem

Here's the scenario....the past few weeks this one bird consistently flys up in front of my house and starts pecking away at my window. It's starting to drive me nuts. I've put out bird feed, bread near the front but it doesn't touch it! Just flys into the window trying to get a foothold and then starts pecking away. Not only is that annoying but it's leaving droppings all over my front door/window. What's the deal? Is it time to see if one of the neighborhood kids has a bb gun?

Probably sees his reflection. Put a light or maybe a picture of a cat in the window.

Or get a BB gun.

Does the bird look like any in this picture?

Nah...just some stupid ..nondescript bird.

The cat picture idea is ok...except the window is quite hight (2 story house). Getting desperate though...will certainly try it before the bb gun option.

Your bird is celebrating UT going to the Rose Bowl, or it may think its reflection is another bird horning in on its territory. About the only thing you can do is put streamers or something like it in front of the window for a while. The bird will figure out there is not an alpha male there and give up attacking the window.

I've got a woodpecker that's been celebrating for 3 hours every day for the last three months. The bastard is shitting all over the place.

If they are pecking at the window, they think another bird is there. Hanging some ribbons or crepe streamers in front of the window, which sounds goofy, I know, is what I have read that works. You can probably take them down after the behavior changes in a short time.
You could try to get the woodpecker away from the house by feeding it at a distant tree limb-woodpeckers like peanut butter, and suet-there are suet cakes sold to go in a wire mesh feeder for woodpeckers at places like Wild Birds Unlimited. PetSmart, even HEB , might have these.

Cover the window with double sided tape!!!

Actually this WILL WORK. Take some fishing line and place a couple of nails on either side of the windo in it's "flight path" and sting the fishing line bewteen the nails. It won't be noticable to any neighbors and they bird will run into the string before it reaches the window causing great consternation and confusion.

If it will work on Sea Gulls it will work on a "regular" bird.

I wonder if you might have a case of a bird with that Asian bird flu....
