I seen a foot note at the bottom of the screen on Billy Joe on CNN today at a business I was at pertaining to the shooting he was involved in a year or so ago. I have not been able to find anything on the internet on it. Has anyone heard about my boy Billy? Was he charged for the shooting?

Yep...aggravated assault w/deadly weapon... 2nd degree felony, up to 20; unlawfully carrying a handgun...3rd degree felony, up to 10.

jazz...don't go off deep. The whole SITUATION sucks. I didn't say Billy Joe was right or wrong. I've met and talked to him several times over the years. He is a down to earth guy, but he has had a different life than most of us. On the paths he has traveled, a gun is almost like your second instrument. Having one probably kept him alive more than once, and also assured his paycheck on many occasions. A couple of reports I heard from the incident make it sound fortunate that he only shot the guy once, and didn't kill him.

The other interesting thing is that it took authorities almost a year and a half to pass down an indictment...seems like a long time to gather that crucial evidence.

Again Jimmy, I have to agree with ya. As much as I admire and love the man, his background and history has finally caught up with him. His music has been such a large part of my life, it's hard for me to think he would have to do any time.

LITNIN, I appreciate your info on Billy. It's hard for me to realize how someone of his stature could have such a hard life. Damn, the man is a Texas Saint. It does seem like its been a long time for indictment, but I'm sure he has top notch lawyers.

On the radio the other day some local media types were speculating that the delay on the indictment might have been because authorities were trying to determine if Billy Joe's health issues (whatever they are) might catch up with him.

I remember when this happened. IIRC, Billy Joe claimed it was self defense. Something like this guy was coming at him or some such. THEN, an eyewitness said that she overheard Billy Joe to say, "where do you want it?" to the guy right before Billy Joe shot him. I thought that was kind of funny.
