I'm purchasing a new road bike, and was wondering if anyone could recommend any discount sites for items like pedal clips, tools, computers, that sort of stuff. This is my first foray into road biking, so I'm not very familiar with the industry. Thanks for your help.
Do a search for "promo code" before using Nashbar.
Nashbar and Performance Bike are owned by the same company, but their line of goods and prices differ.
I have found Mountain Bike Product Reviews to be a good source for reviews...and sources -- the reviews list where people bought the good and the price paid. The Link
My last big purchase was a headlight. I ended up buying it from a dealer on eBay because he had the best price and good ratings.

at nashbar and performance, check their "returned" section, especially if you are looking for clothes/shoes, or things that come in different sizes.
You may save a few bucks but for my money and from my experience you are better off in the long run going to a local bike shop. You get to see what you are getting andf the shop employees can help a lot. just my 2 cents.
I have bought a ton of stuff online from nashbar performacnce etc. but it seems like every other time it's not what I expected....
agree with k-man. especially since you are new to the sport. the insight and feedback from the LBS will completely make up for the few bucks you'll save online.
thanks for the tips. Up in the Dallas area, I've found a number of competent dealers (RBM, Plano Cycle, etc...). I've been looking for clipless pedals, lights, and cyclometers. After plunking down a good amount of dough on the bike, I want to try to save a bit on the non-essentials.
