Bijan MRI

I haven't seen anything on Bijan but I'm pissed about Quinn's injury because that POS that took him down intended to injure him
That's ****** football

I love to see hard nosed hard hitting football and understand that sometimes the completion of a hit is too close to the end of the play to avoid. Did some of that in my day.

However the hit on Quinn was a chickens - - t attempt to hurt a player and the POS has knocked a good player out for weeks. It’s times like this that I think on-field retaliation is justified because a 15 yard penalty is not enough and there is no targeting type game suspension penalty. Then you have the gutless tv announcers who cover for the prick instead of calling him out for the act.

I hear Ewers may be out past the OU game?

the guy who hit Quinn did exactly what he was supposed to do. and if the guy gets hurt too bad, go sit down and heal.
THATS FOOTBALL FOLKS
it's the way it'sbeen played for a hundred plus years.
if anyone doesn't like it then you can watch and play pickleball!

there should not have been a penalty!
or
if he was thinking "if I slam him hard to the ground I might get a penalty"
He did the right thing! because he took out qb1 which made us weaker.
that's been happening a hundred plus years!
too bad we couldn't take out their qb1 on a clean hit

Didn’t he grab the face mask on that hit? If so I interject it was a deliberate attempt to take him down on the shoulder, if not I say it still was a blatant gal on/drive into the ground but not as flagrant without the face mask because that would definitely be an attempt to turn the shoulder. Just sayin.

Capital B capital S. Driving a player into the ground after he just threw a pass is a cowards way to play the game. As I said, my love for football was the violent part of the game, but purposely trying to hurt a player is chickens- -t.
End of discussion.

just saw the replay. NO facemask. No foul either by the defender. He hit Quinn in the air. He can'tstop his momentum in mid-air. Had no choice but to land on Quinn on the follow through.
SORRY EVERYONE IT WAS A CLEAN HIT.
AND there shouldhave been no flag.

Disagree. We all watched it. He didn't have to drive him into the ground.

of course he had to be mean and rough because this ISN'T flag football!

I guarantee you we would have made the exact same play to them in that situation.
We are not righteous just like they are not righteous. This is a violent sport which is why most watch it. Personally, I do enjoy the athleticism and the game strategy also.
I understand the burnt orange glasses that ya'll are wearing but I esteem truth.

He didn't purposely hurt him. He did, however, purposely treat Quinn roughly, but cleanly, which is the way football is played. I have seen a lot rough tackles this weekend.
Ya'll are aware that football is a violent sport, right. I mean we could change college football from the way it is currently to flag football. They could use pink flags.

So David Thomas and Casey Studdard were wrong for sending a message to OU and Colorado after attempts to injure VY?

No complaints came from Bob Stoops or Gary Barnett and no flags from Al Dowdell or Chuck U, and I assure you they knew why David wanted to confirm the players number

With Saturday’s officiating crew they may have ejected the whole team

Yes, football is a contact sport, but that was a cheap shot on Ewers.

Well, that changes everything. You watched a replay AGAIN and it reinforces your your earlier opinion. This changes EVERYTHING. This is what we have all been waiting for. Sorry, you were wrong to start with and you are still wrong. Keep digging.

Makes me wonder why he didn’t go ahead and maul Young on that safety, non safety. He certainly had him in a position to rip him in two and you know, it being the violent game that it is, why did he not just roll back over him?

Hey, I know, we could play "Sarcastaball." Wouldn't that be fun. We could rehire Tom to come back & coach the team up on how to give really good hugs.

it's interesting thatyou say that, if he had just tackled him with his weight instead of rolling him we would probably have the safety. I haven't gotten to that part of the replay yet.

a "cheap shot" that happens all the time in football which every defensive player performs. He did what he is supposed to do, tackled our guy hard.
Now, I suppose Dallas Turner(?) could have let Quinn go in mid air so that Quinn may have possibly protected himself on the fall to the ground. But who would do that? That would have been sportsmanship. But again, who would do that?

Put me in the cheap shot camp, however the situation was definitely aggravated because QE jumped about a foot in the air to make the throw, then was hit at the top of it. That completely removed any ability or leverage he had to mitigate the impending blow with his feet and/or legs/knees. I think had he been on the ground when hit the effect would have been much less damaging.

I assume that most people on this board have played football at some level. Back in the day as an outside linebacker, and when the protection of the quarterback was not so well monitored, I very often knocked quarterbacks down after they had thrown the ball. But it was a blow to the body and after the initial contact with them, that was the end of it. No running through them and certainly never a launch of the bodies with a resultant driving of their body into the ground. If I had done that, it would only be in an attempt to cause as much damage as I could to the player. The move made on Ewers was definitely avoidable.

who would do that?

Since you are so fond of "replays", I invite you to watch the entire game film of the 1965 Orange Bowl (Texas vs Alabama). Coach Royal knew that Namath was looking at being the #1 pick but on a gimpy leg. Texas defense NEVER hit Namath below the waist. Years later the Alabama center wrote an article for Sports Illustrated (when it was an enjoyable magazine) about that game and said that the play of the Texas defense would stick in his mind forever as the classiest thing he had seen on the field.

Nick doesn't teach nor does he condone dirty play, but Saturday they tried his patience.

We're not playing a hundred years ago anymore. It was the wrong thing. It's a penalty to slam the quarterback into the ground, putting all your body weight on him.
It was a dirty play.
They play dirty all day long.

Remember that well Sabre. Was going to bring it up but feared I’d get the stage wrong, uncertain was Cotton or Orange bowl. Great game.

Nash,

If you're referring to the Namath game, it was the Orange Bowl. We Lost to Arkansas on a punt return by Ken Hatfield, so Arkansas went to the Cotton Bowl, and we had to face #1 Alabama in the Orange Bowl. The Hogs claimed their only football National Championship because of our win.

Maybe Lawrence Taylor started the violent defensive play....now most players want to imulate it cause it means more glamor and BIG $$$$$$
