My dishonest predictions include beating KU in Kansas City.

I also have some bad gut feelings, like losing to Baylor or OSU.

BU is actually in a pretty good position. If you're a bubble team, the last thing you want is a BYE. You need every win you can get.
 
First round:

TX Tech
Baylor
Nebraska
A&M

Second round

Texas (over TX Tech)
Oklahoma (over Baylor)
Kansas (over us)
A&M (upsets K-State)

Semis

Texas (over Oklahoma)
Kansas (close over aTm)

Finals:

Kansas over Texas
 
Even if we win the Big 12 Tourny, I don't think we can be a 1 seed (unless like Memphis loses the first game of their conference tourny or something). I also don't think we will be a 3 seed even if we lose our first game. I would not be suprised at all if we "tanked it" early (see Texas 2003).

This team is not very deep and could certainly use the extra day or two off.
 
I'd REALLY like to see Kansas make some sort of early exit.

I'm starting to worry about us getting the #2 in Houston. The way I see it:

EAST: #1 UNC, #2 Georgetown (if they win the Big East tourney)
MIDWEST: #1 Tennessee, #2 Duke (no chance they get sent West)
SOUTH: #1 Memphis, #2 Texas/Kansas
WEST: #1 UCLA, #2 Texas/Kansas

Sure we have better wins and a better resume overall, but Kansas winning the Big 12 tourney would really hurt. Add to that the fact that they got shipped West to play UCLA in Cali last year, and it's almost certain that we have to advance further than them to play in Houston.

Thoughts?

I just mocked out the first two lines of the bracket and came to the same conclusion as you.

Charlotte: #1 UNC, #2 Georgetown or Wisconsin
Detroit: #1 Tennessee, #2 Duke
Houston: #1 Memphis, #2 Kansas
Phoenix: #1 UCLA, #2 Texas

At this point, we really have to rely on the committee shipping Duke out west to face UCLA in Phoenix. That would allow them to put Kansas in Detroit and us in Houston. Unfortunately, I think the first scenario is more likely at this point.

Still a lot of games to be played though, so we'll just have to see.
 
honestly, between us and Missouri, I think we have a far better shot at upsetting KU simply because our team has achieved some sort of balance. We're taking better shots now than when we played them the first two times, and we still play good defense.

if we could keep the turnovers down and keep their fastbreak offense from being ignited, our chances go up exponentially. then it comes down to making them shoot jumpshots and not allowing shitloads of points in the paint.
 
i hate these tourneys, i hope we get out in the 2nd round, the big Xii is a physical league, and playing 3 days in a row is tough. both texas and kansas went out early from the ncaa tourney last year because of flat legs.
 
Kansas is just as likely to go to Michigan as to Texas. There's no reason to asusme they will be #2 in the South.
