Big Ten basketball this year has featured some of the worst offense/best defense I can remember this league producing. These games are not easy on the eyes.

Penn State went crazy over the last few minutes to win 38-33. I guess a five point game is a blowout when the teams combine for only 71 points.

I saw that on the crawl at the bottom of the screen and thought it was a misprint. I thought maybe the game was stopped at the half because the roof collapsed or something like that.

No worry. It was just Big 10 basketball.

It's like a JR High game. They said on March Madness Midnight (or whatever that is called) that Illinois had 0 FT attempts in the entire ballgame. They must be the most passive offensive team ever.

I haven't looked it up, but Illinois averages about 13 FTs per game, and Texas averages 23. So there you go.

I didn't watch the game, but I wondered about the free throw stat. How does a team not get to the line at all in a home game featuring sub 30% shooting and lots of turnovers? Was this a loosely called rugby match?

It was the second time in three weeks that Illinois managed fewer than 40 points. Pretty neat trick for a top 20 team.
