It's not just good, it's very, very good. You're only hurting yourself by not eating there.

BTW, the brisket "Philly" sandwich at the Big Oak may be the best sandwich I've ever had.

210 S. Main Street in Buda, 15 mins from Downtown Austin off exit 221.

I ate there one time when it first opened. The walls were still painted like the childcare center it was before becoming the bbq joint. I just had the chopped sandwich. It was pretty good. I haven't made it back yet.

I like chopped more than sliced.

They really kept it that way? I asked the owners about it and they said it was a daycare business. Were they yanking my chain? I also thought I remembered them saying they were from out of state.

Yep, that's the place. I can't believe they kept that paint. Maybe they were just pulling my leg.

First of all, I was talking about in sandwich form.

Second of all, I hate sliced brisket anyway. I'd rather them just hack a huge hunk off and let me have it that way. They always insist on slicing it up which cools the meat faster. I hate cold meat.

I like a good chop as much as the next guy, but you do realize it's just fat mixed with sauce, right?

I'm not sure how that can beat the tender deliciousness of a perfectly seasoned and smoked slice of briskety goodness, regardless of whether or not the food is placed on a bun, and regardless of the temperature at which it is served.

But hey, to each his own. I'll just consider it another of the many mysteries of life.
