I shall eat the brisket philly no more, forever. For those of you who ate there based on my several recommendations, I'm sure you thought it was good, and thanks for keeping my local place in business.

For those of you who didn't, you missed out. It was right there on the edge of greatness, in the same caliber as Taylor Cafe, Ruby's, Chisolm Trail in Lockhart and the Mikeskas places, and a major step up from any number of "institutions" that don't bear mention.

F progress.
I'm hoping a small asteroid will strike the Bill Miller BBQ next to the HEB and vaporize that *****.

i heard about this travesty and am very disturbed. i found someplace to satisfy my cravings for a bongo's cheesesteak except it was far superior, then *poof*.

plus, i could have met you there with the bottle of havana club anejo especial i keep torturing you with.

How is Bill Miller BBQ still in business? That is one of life's great mysteries to me.

Bozo.. you got it all right in your post! Those of us who got to eat a few of those Big Oak Phillies were the lucky ones as it was one helluva sandwich.

The good news is that the Ludemans (the owners) -- whom I've known for almost 20 years -- retained the rights to the name and assure me at some point they'll reopen somewhere. However, since the time it took to run the place was substantial and their boys are still pretty young, I'd anticipate it being a few years before we're lucky enough for such a reopening.

What a shame. I used to ride past there all the time on my bicycle training rides. Loved the smell- reminded me a UT football game. Always wanted to stop and try it. Let us know when the new place opens up.
