This is really quite a turn of events. I just hope its a good turn. I'm a little skeptical about things that far off, but Mack knows more than me about signing day.

I have mixed emotions about offering juniors-to-be, but you almost have to these days to get the attention of blue chippers. Just means the coaches and recruiters will have to work harder earlier and really do their homework. This staff seems to be up to the challenge. Time will tell.

You bet it can turn kid's heads... because it shows the kids that school X likes them enough to offer! 16 years ago, Mack Brown changes the ways of recruiting when he cam to Texas with the early offer... what's the difference now if the position coaches already know that they want the youngster???

There's one particular youngster that grew up a Longhorn fan, but says that the ATM leads because they offered first... go figure! These are 15/16 year olds we're talking about.

247Sports has confirmed at this time that there are currently 18 verbal offers out to 2014 kids. Of those 18, Texas has received 2 verbal commitments...

Way too early to tell. Who knows who will leave for various reasons, leave early for NFL, get injured, graduate, fail to qualify.

Heck, it is hard to tell how many will be available in 2013!

Note: 2013 recruit Naashon Hughes is to be greyshirted and is expected to count toward 2014.

Scholarships for 2014? More than this year (2013) but less than 2012... I've read a few weeks ago that the # could be in the low 20's. but of course, that's fluid with early departures to the NFL and attrition.
