Big East

Villanova struggling with American, Baylor knocks off Georgetown. Providence knocked out of the NIT. Kinda might have been overrated. Maybe the big 12 is underated.

Big XII is looking good so far. Baylor and KSU winning in the NIT and aTm and Texas winning in the NCAAs.

Big East may well have 3 final four teams, it was far and away the best conference this year, dont judge it by two NIT performances and Villanova coming out cold.

Kansas and Okie St won as well. Big XII is now 5-0 in the NCAAs and you would think Mizzou will win as well.

Pitt struggling with E Tenn, Marquette one point win over Utah St and WVa down by 8 to Dayton.

2009 Big east basketball is lookin like 2008 Big 12 football in the post season. Its lookin like it may have been overrated as a conference.

The Pit is easily one of the toughest places to play in the country. The fans know this and do what they can to make it so. The Huskers did indeed give a fine showing in a tough place to play against the home team. Nothing to hang a head low about. Go Niblets!

Big 12 lookin' good so far, but all but one of its teams (No.9 aggy) had the better seed. Saturday and Sunday will prove more--half the teams will be favored, and the other half have some heavy lifting (playing two No.1s and a No.2).

Personally, I like the match-ups and think one of those heavyweights will be conquered. But I also wouldn't be surprised to see KU, Mizzou or OU go down.

What am I saying? Of course OU goes down--OU sucks!

To tell the truth, I thought there was a good chance everyone from the Big 12 was going to be eliminated by tonight.

But in a down year, I think 3 in the second weekend is pretty good. It's the most beind the Big East, and the Big 12 could very easily have had five teams playing next weekend. ACC totally flopped. They're down to two teams and it was very nearly one.

Very good year so far for the Big 12 athletics wise. The baseball conference is looking like a meat-grinder as well.

Man this thread is horrible. I was actually going to start a thread about how dominant the Big East is this year.

They have 3 out of the top 4 seeds in the tournament. That right there is ridiculous. 5 of their top 6 teams are still in the tournament. Thus they are representing 5 of the 16 teams left.

Looking ahead here are their sweet 16 matchups:
1 Louisville vs. 12 Arizona
1 Conn vs. 5 Purdue
1 Pitt vs. 4 Xavier
3 Vill vs. 2 Duke
3 Syracuse vs. 2 Oklahoma

They have to be heavily favored in 3 of those 5 games. Louisville, UConn, and Pitt should all win easily and make it to the elite 8. Thus they likely will have at least 3 of the final 8 teams in the tournament. I could see Vill knocking off Duke and Syracuse knocking off Oklahoma. Very possible there could be 4 teams making it to the Elite 8. That is sick right there.

Big East is a tough *** conference to play in.

Does anyone still think the BIG East is overated?

They already have three of the finall eight teams and could easilly have 5 of the last 8 teams in the country.

I think it's pretty safe to say that the Big East is not overrated. It is also safe to say that the Big 12 was highly underrated. Big East first by a mile and shockingly the Big 12 is the second best conference by a large margin. Nobody would have thought that prior to the tourney.

Well **** they have about 100 teams in the conference. Therefore there's a pretty good chance that 5 of them will be pretty good.

Those same people could also argue that it's silly to say the odds were stacked in their favor if these five teams ended up with top 3 seeds. They played in arguably the toughest conference and had the records to prove they were collectively among the top 10-12 teams going into the tournament. Because they're still alive, regardless of who they've played in the first 2-3 rounds, you're going discount that because you feel they received preferential treatment?
