Sometime in mid-March, 2007 The STARDUST will be imploded. They will announce the date about 10-14 days out. Clark County will not issue the requisite permits until about four hours prior to the event, so that if the viewing public was to become too much to handle, they could delay the implosion in an abundance of caution. They will have some limited fireworks, as they plan to make it a news event symbolizing the beginning of Echelon Place, their new $4 billion mixed-use resort destination. The implosion will simply be the steel/concrete structure that is left. The only thing now left is the frame and you can see right through it.

ScoPro...

when is the Imperial Palace coming down?

isn't that whole space between Harrah's & Bally's supposed to become one huge development?

2020 They will be launching rockets in orbit with private gaming rooms.

Vegas is just at the beginning of showing us what cash and vision can do.

I might have to relocate to Vegas for work. The engineering opportunities are endless it seems.....WOW!

Anybody who is thinking of actually moving to Vegas should read this board for a while:
The Link

The locals complain the schools suck pretty bad and the crime rate is getting worse, not to mention high priced housing.

2/3 of locals go to the Strip rarely or never.

Haven't been to Vegas since 2004. I remember being there the weekend we played at Arkansas. I put $500 on the Pigs - they were getting 14 points at home. I should have bet $50,000. That was easy money.

Need to get back to the city that most reflects American thinking these days.

God dammit. Buried in that story is the Barbary being bought out by Harrah's. I suppose it was inevitable it would disappear, but the Barbary will always be my favorite casino and hotel, bar none. Low craps limits, instant access from your room to the Strip, pissers within spitting distance of the tables, Fat Elvis and one of the best shows in Vegas between midnight and 6:00 AM: the Drais crowd going to and fro.

This sucks beyond recognition.

When I heard Harrah's was buying out the Barbary Coast, I cancelled our reservation at Wynn's and booked the BC for last December. That was our favorite place to stay.

The BC will change it's name to "Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon" next week.

Would you believe that Harrah's paid (actually, they traded land) $350,000,000 for the 4.5 acre BC property? It's just a tear-down to them.

Any word on when the planned W hotel is going to be finished? like Vegas didn't have enough snotty trendiness already, but dammit i have starwood points and i have needs.
