Big Board Draft

There was an interview with Greg Davis on the Zone today that said the Texas coaches all participated in a "Big Board" NFL style draft where they chose players based on their talent regardless of position.

He wouldn't disclose how players were drafted. Who is your top 3 if you were to participate in that draft?

Yes, it's all Texas players. The idea is to see which players on the team, regardless of position, are considered the most talented play-makers by the staff. Then you find a way to get your consensus best on the field.

Chiles may be the second coming of Vince Young, but he hasn't showed me anything on the field to warrent putting him in my top 3. Putting him there would be basing it purely on speculation...

Quan has David Thomas like consistency. He has to be in my top 3 for that alone.

Colt had a rough year last year, but I don't think his freshman year was a fluke.

... and Orakpo is a beast.

Just three?

Colt, JC, Rak

If Ulie's knee is better, and he no longer gets beat by the quick outside move, he would be next.

The offensive and defensive staffs made their own boards separately

i'd take colt, chiles 1 and 2, then 3rd is a toss up for me between quan/shipley/fozzy

The criticism of Ulatoski is justified, unless you take into account his injuries. If he's healthy finally he could live up to the praise he got two years ago. Remember they moved Blalock inside so he could play?
