An amazing fact that in his 11th year this is the first that Barnes has not had a first round bye.

But, in an amazing turn of events, Texas' 2nd round opponent will be a team they tied with in the standings. Bet that hasn't happened before.

Hook'em!!!

Watching tonight's matchup with Tech and Aggie, the arena crowd sounds like a high school game.... that echo, somewhat meandering roll of voices here and there, and the announcers sounding same.

Man with these ****** start times I think I am only going to get to see the Friday and Saturday games if they get that far.

Horn69, data indicates you are wrong. I just found a blog previewing 2005 Big 12 tournament. The blog mentions the four teams with byes that year were Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State. Texas evidently did play a first round game in 2005. I wouldn't ever tout Rick Barnes and the Big 12 conference tournament in the same sentance. A better point is it's amazing that in 10 Big 12 tourneys, Texas has never won one, despite all the good teams we've taken into it. The data does indicate that Barnes views the conference tournament like a rattlesnake. You only stick around it as long as you must. For that reason alone, I'll be pretty surprised if Texas manages to beat KSU, even though I'm sure we are the better team. I will note Barnes used a lot of zone yesterday, as if to preserve his players' legs. But I'm sure that is merely a coincidence!

I can not believe this! How awesome. With us getting a favorable draw with Baylor and Villanova doing so well in the Big East tourney, we may just find ourselves as a 5 seed! Heck, even higher... I really don't know.

Big 12 South is now 6-1, and the 4 teams from the State of Texas are now 5-1. As usual, it is the Aggies playing the role of whipping boy.

OU and OSU are tied, 40-40, early in the second half. I'm gonna go out on a short limb and predict that the Cowpokes pull off the upset.

The Sooners haven't been playing well since they got bamboozled in Austin, and Ford has his crew looking sharp. Marshall Moses has been especially impressive down the stretch.
