Big 12 schedule ?

How is it that KU had a home game on the Saturday before hosting a Big Monday?

I thought the hosting Big Monday team had to play on the road the Saturday before, while the visiting Big Monday team had a home game the previous Saturday.

I seem to recall a comment by Ron Franklin on one of the telecasts talking about this schedule rule. But for some reason, it wasn't followed this past Saturday/Monday.

I would have scheduled it as having the A&M/KU and the KU/Tech game flipped (A&M hosting Big Monday)

Hmmm......seems kinda strange.

Anybody know something?

The only rule is that a team playing on Big Monday can't play two road games Saturday/Monday.

They can play two home games, or they can play one road/one home, or one home/one road, but they can't play two road games in a row.

I did hear Craig Way mention that for Big Monday games, the home team must play a road game before and the road team must have a home game before.

I guess he was wrong or maybe there is some variation of the rule.

Acutally, it was Craig Way who talked about that "rule". I thought it was Ron Frankin, but now my memory is clearer. Way was talking about three straight Big Monday games, and how our schedule worked out. I remebered it somehow, and thought it was odd that the KU/Tech game was scheduled for Monday.

As I mentioned in my OP, it would have set up for A&M to host Big Monday last night, since A&M was on the road Saturday at OU, and KU was home to KState. Then, Tech/KU would have been next Saturday along with A&M/Baylor. Tech would have hosted BU this week instead of next Saturday.

Texas had to travel each Saturday before the Big Monday we hosted (at ISU, at Baylor). We hosted OU the Saturday before going to KSU.

Why did KU get the honor of hosting two straight games like that?
