Minus the games vs Va and St. Bon I'm not terribly impressed. May bode well for Texas though, because they won't be prepared for the b12 grind.

Texas Non Conference

Don't think Texas' non conference is really going to prepare them for the B12 either. Two ranked teams and a lot of cupcakes.

I think it will actually be 3 ranked teams because I look for UCLA to be much more improved this year, and with their second year coaches system better in place they should be better prepared this time around. But even with 3 ranked opponents I am still a bit concerned about the level of competition for the other games. I don't want to experience that TX Tech syndrome from last year with a bunch of fluffed up preseason wins and then hit that proverbial wall when b12 play comes around.

Other than the non-conference home game against Tennessee, those other games aren't gonna help attendance much.

I've posted before that I'm on board with playing that neutral game in Houston against UCLA as part of the doubleheader with the men's squads; unfortunately, Saturday, December 8 is the same day Texas volleyball hosts a regional final (and hopefully playing in it). So, tough for fans of both programs to attend both events.

I think it’s a pretty solid schedule. St. John’s, Tennessee, Iowa, UCLA are all good teams that will be vying for the NCAAs. Tenn is the highlight of the home schedule but Jackson State, Central Conn, & Cornell are all new teams that haven’t been in Austin for some time, if ever. It’s a short OOC schedule (11 games w/ six home games). The UCLA game in Houston breaks up those six home games into two three game sessions. St. John’s should be a very good test to start off the season. It will be interesting to see how the team does against Tenn, UCLA and Iowa.

I'm not sure that anything will help attendance until the team goes on a prolonged winning streak in conference.
